Homestead Funding Welcomes an Industry Veteran!

ALBANY, NY, September 26, 2023: Homestead Funding is thrilled to announce Dave Stagnitti, CMB will be joining us as the Vice President of Retail Sales!

Dave has over three decades of expertise in mortgage banking and sales leadership. His most recent role at Enact Mortgage Insurance involved multi-layered relationship management and providing strategic guidance to some of the nation's leading mortgage lenders; many of whom Homestead Funding interacts with on an investor level.

“During my very first meeting with Dave, I felt an immediate connection,” CEO Mike Rutherford recalled. “I was impressed by not only his expansive and diverse industry experience, but also his personality and how together those would be valuable to this role.”

Prior to Dave’s tenure in the private mortgage insurance space, he was the President and founder of Advantage Mortgage Services, known for being the largest volume brokerage firm in New York’s Capital District.

When asked about why Dave was the right choice for Homestead, Vince O’Neill, Senior VP of Secondary Marketing, explained, “Dave’s broad and widely varied experience will be invaluable to us here at Homestead. He’s seen the market changes we’ve experienced over the last 30 years and has learned how to respond and adapt during those changes.”

In 2010, when Advantage Mortgage Services underwent an acquisition by CapCom FCU (now Broadview FCU) and transitioned into Homeowners Advantage, Dave assumed the position of Vice President of Mortgage Services. In this capacity, he recruited and nurtured a high-performing team of mortgage consultants while successfully overseeing and cultivating relationships with external referral sources.

In 2016, Dave earned his Certified Mortgage Banker designation from the MBA (Mortgage Bankers Association). Beyond this achievement, he is an active industry advocate and holds a faculty position with the MBA’s School of Mortgage Banking.

At Homestead, Dave will primarily be focused on product sourcing, fostering team development, and supporting company growth, while ensuring an exceptional customer experience.

“What I’m most excited about is Dave’s well-rounded resume,’ explained Chief Operating Officer Tony Felitte; “not only does he have experience on the sales side, but he also ran a business and has a deep understanding of the economics that go into it. Having a knowledge of both sides is rare to find. And then on top of that, he’s just a really great person.”

Jane Borbee, Senior VP of Operations, agreed. “Dave’s experience will bring a completely different perspective to the organization,” she said. “Not only is he multitalented, but he also has experience on both a local and national level. We’re lucky to have him.”
